Check Out These Student Authors and Illustrators Published on iPads

Still feeling the glow of the recent Digital Storytelling Workshop at the Startup Summer Institute at Howard University's Middle School of Mathematics and Science. This program was a collaboration between Global Sleepover and Demibooks to help students develop global awareness and produce interactive books on iPads. Representing Demibooks, I joined Geeta Raj of Global Sleepover for the second week of the camp. The first week she focused on helping the students develop their skills as storytellers and illustrators. She worked with them to craft stories about different countries around the world. I assisted the students with Demibooks Composer Pro. This app for creating apps, let them load their text, illustrations and audio files and add animation and interactivity to their stories and publish their work.

We proudly announce that each of the students participating now has a published interactive book available on iPads everywhere via the free app, Demibooks Share.  Follow these instructions to take a look at these middle school student authors and illustrators work.

Digital Storytelling Workshop stories on Demibooks Share

To download the interactive storybook apps on your iPad generation 2 or higher:
 
1.  Download Demibooks Share App from the App Store (http://bit.ly/DemibooksShare) 
or search for “Demibooks Share” in iTunes.

2. Install the app. The app launches in “Store” view. The Startup Summer Institute Digital Storytelling projects will be at the top of the Store.
    
3. At any time you can also find the books created under the Startup Summer Institute Digital Storytelling Camp by touching the school’s logo in the “Featured” section or using Search-Schools.
   
4. Press download to download any book. The book will download to “Library.” Touch the book icon after download to read the book. Once done reading, touch the red X icon on the top right of any page to exit the book.
    
5. Once you have read a book you can comment, rate and share in Book Details. Touch the book icon in Store to go to Book Details. We encourage everyone to leave comments, rate and share!
